Strawberry Water Benefits

Strawberries are one of nature’s “super foods”. Technically, they’re a member of the rose family and not a fruit or berry, but an enlarged receptacle of a flower. They are loaded with vitamins and contain very high levels of antioxidants called polyphenols. Just one serving (approximately 8 strawberries) contains more vitamin C than an orange.

Water is another natural healthy wonder. Studies have show that by just drinking water, you increase your resting metabolism rate and increase your weight loss potential. Combine that with all the wonderful things water does for your health like suppress hunger, flush your system, and hydrate your body, and it’s at the top of the list of best weight loss tools.

So the next time strawberries are fresh and in season near you, pick up a few baskets and give strawberry detox water a try. You’ll be able to cut back on sugary drinks that are really bad for you, and your family will love these.

Feel free to experiment and let me know in the comments below what great new strawberry infused detox water recipes you discover.

Strawberry Detox Water Recipes

There are an endless number of ways to make strawberry detox water. Strawberries provide such a unique and delicious flavor in water that you can pair them with just about any fruit or vegetable and it will taste really good.

Here are some tips for making strawberry detox water:

  • You can usually get 2-4 fill-ups out of one batch of these ingredients, but you might want to change them out a little sooner if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  • For an extra special treat, use sparkling water instead of regular water. It adds more taste and looks really pretty in a fancy glass.
  • The longer the water sits, the stronger the flavor. It’s usually mild at first, but after a few hours (or overnight) it can be quite strong.
  • Strawberries are usually washed, de-stemmed, and sliced, but they can also be served whole for a pretty presentation. They just don’t infused as much flavor when left whole.

Here are some of the most popular strawberry infused water recipes.

Hot Strawberry and Tangerine Metabolism Boosting Drink

Strawberry and Tangerine Fruit Infused Water

The weather outside may be COLD, but this Hot Strawberry and Tangerine Metabolism Boosting Drink will warm you up and help you lose weight! It contains fruits that are high in Vitamin C which are also big metabolism boosters!

One of my favorite combos are strawberries and tangerines, and this drink is delicious both hot and cold.

I recently came across dried strawberries, which means I can have this all year-long but if you can’t find them don’t fret, just slice fresh or frozen strawberries and plan on using a fine mesh sieve, coffee filter or tea bag as they might fall apart.

Makes 1 pot of tea or 1 liter of cold drink.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup dried or fresh sliced strawberries
  • Rind of one tangerine- try to get little to none of the white pith
  • Water

Get started:

There are two ways to make Hot Strawberry and this Tangerine Metabolism Boosting Drink: 1) Put it all in the tea-pot, 2) Make individual cups. It all depends on your willingness to wash your tea-pot. I have also included a cold version for this delicious drink.

Tea pot instructions- Place the tangerine rind and strawberries into a teapot, cover with water and bring to a boil. To serve cover the nose of your tea-pot with a coffee filter or use a fine mesh sieve over your tea-cup to avoid strawberry pulp.

Strawberry and Tangerine Metabolism Boosting DrinkIndividual tea cups- Boil water, add in 1/4 of the rind and a tablespoon of dried strawberries. Allow the strawberries to plump up and just as they start to fall apart (about 3 minutes) use a fork to scoop them out and discard. Leave the rind in the tea-cup for both added flavor and beauty.

Make it cold- Boil 3 cups (or as much as your tea-pot will hold) of water making the “tea pot instructions” let it cool with the fruit left in then strain into a 1 liter jug discarding the strawberries. Top with water until it is full, pluck out the tangerine rind, rinse and add to jug then place in the fridge to cool. Serve over ice and drink up. If you want to do a bigger jug just double the recipe.

Cool and Refreshing Strawberry Lime Spritzer

Strawberry Lime Spritzer

On a hot summer day this Strawberry Lime Spritzer will cool you right off! This is one of my favorites to have around the house all the time.

You can choose flat water or fizzy water, both work great! If you are trying to kick your soda habit you should go for a Strawberry Lime Spritzer. I think you will love the cool, refreshing taste and it will help curb your food cravings.

Like it sweeter? Add more strawberries and only 1/2 of a lime, adding more strawberries.

Makes 1-2 liters of Strawberry Lime Spritzer-
  • 8 Frozen or Fresh Strawberries- See note above on freezing strawberries before making.
  • 1 Lime
  • 1-2 liters of Pellegrino or Club Soda- you can also use flat water.

Strawberry Lime SpritzerSlice the strawberries into three pieces and drop into the water or fill an infusion pitcher, then slice the lime into 10 wedges and add to the water. Chill for 3-4 hours and serve, if you like, try making some strawberry and lime ice cubes if you are serving with flat water. In an ice-cube tray place one strawberry slice and a lime slice, cover with water and freeze for 3-4 hours.
